Message: The Circumcision of the Foreskin of the Heart (Pt. 3)
Minister: Pastor Laide Olaniyan
(Joshua 5:1-15)
You can be alive in the spirit and still walk in the flesh. Walking in the spirit is the only recipe given by God to denote the work of the flesh.
(Galatians 5:16-17) “ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would”
Walking in the spirit does not just cut off the work of the flesh, it goes to the root of the flesh to remove the person or veil or body called flesh. It does not just trim the leaves, it goes to the roots. Principles have been given to try to resolve the lust of the flesh, it doesn’t last because you were trying to use a carnal principle to end a law. You can trim off the leaves but if the root is not addressed it would sprout.
(Job 14:7) “For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease”
(Matthew 15:13) “But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up”
Jesus is not only interested in cutting off the leaves or trimming it to make it quiet for a while. If you don’t learn to walk in the spirit, the root cause of the works of flesh would still be. Rules are good because they can quiet down things but if you don’t walk in the spirit you would be given a quiet moment for a while but that does not mean the root of it has been dealt with. To have total freedom, a walk in the spirit is required.
(Romans 8:1-4) “(1) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death .(3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
True liberty is found in walking and we said that a person would drink milk until you start walking. Milk would take you from crawling until you start walking . Milk is supposed to help the child grow until he/she can walk, then the full length of the walking would continue under the administration of Christ. Full walking would actually take place under the economy of Christ.
(Galatians 5:24-26) “(24) And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (25) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (26) Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Crucified is the same thing as circumcised. (Col 2:11) The circumcision in Christ is the crucifixion of flesh, the circumcision in the Father is to overcome flesh. The beginning of victory is crucifixion but crucifixion is not the same thing as overcoming but crucifixion is potent enough to put to death. In Christ we are taught the law of how to put to death in Christ. (Rom 8:11-13) “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. (13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live..
Through the spirit means walk in the spirit and walking in the spirit trains you how to kill, how to mortify the deeds of the body or how to destroy the body of the deeds of the flesh
(Col 2:11) “In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:” Circumcision here means crucifixion, i.e. our walk in the spirit.
(Col 3.5) “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:”
(Rom 8:13) “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live” “to live” is not just to live in the spirit, but it means to walk by the spirit.
(Gal 5.24-25) “(24) And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (25) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit”
The covering given to us by Satan is in two folds. Flesh is actually the umbilical code and placenta that ties us to the world.
(Eph 2:1-3) “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; (2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: (3) Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others”
We were once fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind. The way spirit trains or raises a nature of wrath is to follow the desire of the flesh and mind, and the training makes us to be children of wrath. If not for the revelation of scriptures, we will not know that this is what we are being trained to do daily.
We can’t be cerebral in raising the church of God. The training of the spirit that follows the children of disobedience is actually designed to fulfill the desires of the flesh and of the mind to raise a nature that is compatible with wrath. Everything that transpires in your mind is not neutral to you, you are not the one thinking it, there are spirits informing it. As you are, you not designed to generate anything of and by yourself. The origin of that thought is not from us.
Man is like a mast, when the spirit is present, it transmits all over people and people begin to receive frequency and they think that they are the ones thinking it. Spirit disseminates a frequency of thought and people tap into it.
(1Cor 12: 1-2) “(1) Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. (2) Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led” Everyone of us are being led.
Every sincere, genuine child of God who is being led in truth must not assume that every thought is from the Lord, but must ensure such thoughts are vetted by the word of God and the spirit of God to see where it is leading me too because every. Your heart is not self sustaining, it is governed by something (Eph 2:1-2) Being spiritual, following the spirit, inclining your heart to the spirit is not an option. You don’t just wake up and follow the pursuit of the mind, it is something else that is leading you so why not be led by the spirit.
To walk in the spirit, is to crucify the flesh and it is also the circumcision of the heart.
(Rom 6:6-7) “(6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (7) For he that is dead is freed from sin”
The goal of circumcision is to mortify. Your separation is also death. (Gal 6:14) “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world”
Generationally, we can have children who have experienced circumcision and children who glory in the circumcision of their parents but have not been circumcised (Josh 5:5-9).
The children of Israelites were born in the wilderness, though they weren’t part of those that left Egypt, they still carried Egypt in them, which was why they needed to be circumcised. They were born in the wilderness but Egypt was born with them. Egypt does not go without a sharp knife. That sharp knife is a two edge sword which means using a doctrine to cut away something. You need to learn to rise up to pray and not rely on that of your parents because they set it as an example. Without experiencing circumcision, there are certain bread you cannot partake of. (1Sam 21: 4-5) “(4) And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. (5) And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel”
There is a qualification to partake of holy bread so also a qualification to partake of must holy bread. To divide most holy bread. (Neh 7:65, Ezra 2:63) “And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim”
The light of the menorah can’t be used to divide the most holy bread, because what the light of the menorah excuses for you, the light of the Skehinah would not.
The meal you are permitted to take is dependent on what has been permitted to work on your heart.
(Joshua 5:14) “And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?”
God was the one that commissioned Moses and sent him
(Ex 4:22-25) “(22) And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: (23) And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn. (24) And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. (25) Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me”
The same God that called him was looking for an opportunity to slay him. We won’t change the bible as a result of our theology. Theology submits to the Bible.
(Josh 5:14) “And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?”
If we neglect to submit ourselves to the things the Lord is saying, we can make the Lord our adversary, but if we submit to the ordinance of the spirit and allow the Lord to cut off the things that he hates, then He will hewn away these things so that He can partner with us. Without experiencing death, we can’t do worship.
It’s not every word that is sharp enough to cut away flesh from you. The word of Christ is a sharp two edged sword.
(Heb 4:12) “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The word of Christ is a sharp two edge sword that is why it can kill us to the world and kill the world to us but the word of God is sharper and the word of God is for overcoming. With crucifixion we put to death, by overcoming we destroy as in inability to put together again..
(2Tim 1:10) “But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:”
He brought life and immortality; life is to bring us back from death, while immortality is to keep us from dying. The word of Christ, is the word responsible for circumcision of our heart.
(Col 3.16) “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
They committed the word of Christ to Paul to teach.Paul is not against Christ, Christ is not against Paul, it is one gospel. This doesn’t mean that the word of Christ are songs that are to be sung. Depending on the way we position our heart, the word of Christ can be ineffectual to our heart. We can shut our hearts against the word. (Acts 5:31-33)
(Acts 7:54-57) “(54) When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. (55) But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, (56) And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. (57) Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,”
The essence for the removal of flesh is to stop sin. They were cut to the heart, and did not allow the word into their heart. When you are under/connected, there is grace. The operation of Christ looks shameful to flesh, people who glory in flesh despise the operations of Christ, if your heart has not been designed to eat shame you would quickly despise the workings of Christ in your heart and go after the things that men glory in. There are things that flesh glory in and flesh makes the things that Christ is doing look shameful. Every soul that would be cut and cut through must love the way Christ is dealing with your life that is what you call peace. (Rom 1:16) “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The dealings of the word of Christ looks shameful to flesh. Flesh makes the operation of the works of Christ look shameful.
(Luke 16:15) “And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.”
The things Paul preached were first wrought in his life. Paul did not have revelation and started running with it, they made him. Paul waited for his time of showing. Same thing with John. He was in the wilderness till the time of his showing. There is a word that prepares them, that word cuts out something from them. Flesh makes the word of Christ a thing to be ashamed of or despised. (Gal 1:17) “Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.”
We think ministry is all about ministering to people. (Eph 4) Our true ministry is the life we live for God and the measure to which we allow God in our life. Every believer is meant to do ministry, it is not just the 5 fold. What then is ministry that every believer is meant to do? To change to the same image of Christ from glory to glory
(2Cor 3:17-18) “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
(2Cor 4:1) “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;”
If I am not changing to the same image as Christ, from glory to glory as by the Lord, then I am not doing ministry. It is not about holding a mic that you are doing ministry. The word of Christ is to change you.
(1Tim 1:12-13) “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; (13) Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.”
The gospel is responsible for our change. No matter what we are doing, are we changing? Are you becoming more like Jesus, even if you never get to hold a microphone, men are reading you, because you are manifestly declared to be an epistle of Christ. 2nd Corinthians 3:2 What we should be looking for is not a title, but the nature of God.
(Acts 4:13) “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”
Tongues and Interpretation
I do not regard persons, my gaze is fixated upon hearts, I look at hearts,
I regard hearts,
I xray hearts,
I know them that are mine,
I know them that are changing,
I know them that are growing
I know them that can feel after me,
my fixation is on heart so receive judgement, receive counsel and do not be taken,
Do not be swept off your feet do not be taken off your feet by the appraisal of men who look at the external do not deceive your ownself
I have been looking at your heart all along,
I am never distracted from your heart so don’t take the estimation of men as a validation, keep walking, keep moving,
For you see the zone you are in is highly militarized if you stay without moving,
if you stay without journeying, something is coming, pay attention to your heart, the same way I am not distracted from your heart, don’t be distracted,
for indeed I want you to feel after me take away that cloak that makes you insensitive,
I want you to fill after me then it is in me you realize that it is in me you live and move and have your being Do not deceive yourself focus on growth,
Focus on changing,
Don’t settle for less, keep walking, keep moving no loitering, keep moving,
Don’t loiter around validation that is not my estimation, do not regard persons,
I do not regard persons after the external,
I am watching your heart, your title means nothing to me but there is a name I want to call you, go after that name it is a high calling, go after it seek after me,
I want you to feel after me that is why I am bringing it to take away the foreskin of your heart
I want your heart to be alive to me,
keep walking, keep moving, no loitering for it is a highly militarized zone
MESSAGE CONTINUES…
(Heb 11:15) ‘And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had the opportunity to have returned”
You can journey far from Egypt and still return to it, you return in your mind (2nd Cor 3:2-3). The hearts of the Israelites weren’t circumcised so Egypt was never really taken away even though their flesh was circumcised their heart was not so Egypt was never really taken away. They were always erring in their heart. You must be killed to the world to the point where you don’t have an affinity with it again. What you have been delivered from, you should not glory in it, that is counting it as dung. You can count it as loss but not yet as dung. Loss means losing something valuable but when you think of it as dung, you don’t lose dung, you throw away dung that means the value in it has depreciated, it is no longer valuable.
Some life that Christ took away for some people is a loss not yet a dung. The former life Christ has circumcised becomes dung when it has no power to pull you again. The sense of value and worth can not attract you again. (Phil 3:8) “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,”
What heaven cuts off, throw away and desire that the affinity or glory or savour the soul drew from it is extinguished.
