THEME: Jesus the Healer: Knowing How to Receive Healing for Our Bodies from the Lord
LESSON: Seven
TOPIC: Cultivating Godly Culture of Faith Confession (Part 3)—Confessing The Name of Jesus
TEXT:
MEMORY TRACK:
In our last lesson, we learned, by the grace of God, that we should learn to confess the word against sickness. This is one of the major godly habits every believer must imbibe to receive healing that has been secured in Christ. We learned that our redemption is twofold—the salvation of our spirit and our body. In the provision for the body, there are two-fold: healing and the full redemption of our bodies. We also learnt how to maintain our healing by confessing God’s word in the face of symptoms, not considering your symptoms, maintaining faith- confession, and believing God’s word concerning your healing—they shall recover.
The Name of Jesus
In this lesson we shall be looking
at confessing the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus stands
for His person. It contains
all the majesty, glory, authority, dominion, and blessing
that is in Jesus. The name of Jesus is our rich inheritance, all our rights and
privileges in Him. The name of Jesus is not for exclamation or for mere use; it is for unlocking the resources and powers
that God bestowed on Him before and after the resurrection for the Church.
How Jesus Obtained His Name
The weight behind a name is known by how the name is obtained, by whom it was conferred, which door it unlocks, beings that respect the name, the resources it can command, and the realms where it is effective. Men make great names by Conferral, inheritance or by conquests. Let us look at how Jesus obtained His name:
- By Conferral, Philippians 2:5-11
- By Inheritance Hebrews 1:3-5
- By Conquests Colossians 2:15, Heb 2:14,15, Matthew 28:18
The Most Excellent Name
The name of Jesus is the most excellent name He obtained from God. There are names among creatures that God gave to high-ranking angels who are cherubim. After their name is the name of God. Jesus obtained a more excellent name than theirs. Meaning Jesus obtained all the names of God found in heaven and on earth. Jesus obtained both heavenly and earthly names. That is, the most excellent at every realm of existence, not only in this world but in that which is to come. He manifested this name while on earth in John 17:5 and gave it to the disciples and in heaven presently for our full redemption.
The Redemptive Names of God
There are seven redemptive names of God:
- Jehovah-Jireh—The Lord Will Provide—Genesis 22:14, Matthew 6:31-34, Philippians 4:19
- Jehovah-Rapha—The Lord Who Heals—Exodus 15:26, Matthew 8:17, 12:15
- Jehovah-Nissi—The Lord My Banner – Exodus 17:15, 1 Samuel 17:45, John 16:33
- Jehovah-M’Kaddesh—The Lord Who Sanctifies—Leviticus 20:8, 1 Cor. 6:11
- Jehovah-Shalom – The Lord Is Peace – Judges 6:24, John 16:33, Eph 2:14
- Jehovah-Rohi—The Lord My Shepherd—Psalm 23:1, John 10:11, 14
- Jehovah-Tsidkenu—The Lord Our Righteousness—Jeremiah 23:6, 1 Cor. 1:30, 2 Cor. 5:21
Jesus inherited all these names, and much more, because they are names revealed on earth. There is a name in heaven that is revealed to angels, and there is a name He has that will only be known in the world to come.
What the Name Offers in the New Testament—Mark 16:17-18.
Whenever Jesus’ name is mentioned, you command the following to happen:
- Healing: Acts 3:6, 16, 4:10, 30, 9:34, James 5:14
- Authority over demons: Mark 16:17, Luke 10:17, Acts 16:18, Col 2:15
- Safety & deliverance: Mark 16:17-18 Proverbs 18:10
- Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38
- Salvation: Acts 2:21, 4:12
The Name for Our Possession (Matthew 28:18, Ephesians 1:20-21)
The name of Jesus covers all spheres of existence—Heaven, earth, and beneath the earth. All knees in this realm must bow to His name when you call it. Jesus obtained His name for the use of the Church. We need to trust God to know the power that is bestowed upon the name of Jesus and usage. Cultivate the habit of confessing the name of Jesus daily and regularly against fallen spirits and offensive situations. Use the name by faith with boldness, and great things will happen!
