Topic: Using our Kingdom Virtues in Our Natural Life
Minister: Pastor Laide Olaniyan
The church is a family and a big community in the spirit, and we need to understand our family life. When we lose our sense of community, the church becomes like a supermarket where we all come and pick and choose what we want.
The church is a community in that we have values and matters that are of mutual interest to everyone of us. We succeed together, and we fail together. In the spirit, one doesn’t succeed alone; we succeed together and fail together.
How the church is evaluated is not by the greatest amongst us but by the least. We grow as a company in the spiritual realm. Looking at the Corinthian church, for example, whilst they had those whose testimony of Christ had been confirmed amongst them (1 Cor. 1:6), we still see that many were still carnal (1 Cor. 3:3-9) – meaning there were people among them who were mature and/or perfect, but as a matter of evaluation in the spirit, they were still carnal. Why? Because as long as there is still carnality among you, they are still carnal. Our overall state is not evaluated by the most spiritual but by the state of the least. We enter as a company and as a community. This is why we cannot overlook the state of our brother; we cannot mind our business.
(Heb. 12:15) – “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”
(Heb. 3:12) – “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.”
It is any man. We don’t do church alone. Our state is judged by the weakest, not by the most spiritual. Satan rarely goes for the strongest; he goes for the weakest link, and if he can prosper at the weakest link, then he has overcome every one of us. This is why our brothers’ and sisters’ estate should be our concern. In the faith, how we prosper is to bear one another’s burden and to ensure we mutually prosper, and we look for ways to provoke one another to love and good works. If we don’t have a community life, we will perish.
One of the things Satan stole from the church is the community spirit. “Community” is from the words “communal” and “communion.” Community is from a fellowship and a sense of having all things in common. This sense must be riveted in all of us. This age has taught individualism. Individualism is one thing the faith life and Jesus wants to dissolve amongst us. We need to have a sense of communal living that is centered around the values of Christ.
(Phil. 2:4) – “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” – We are not just to look only for our own affairs or things but for the affairs of others. Let the affairs of your brethren be your concern because we prosper together. The prosperity of our brother affects us in a great way, more than we can think.
(1 Cor. 12:12, 1 Cor. 12:15-26) We are connected in more ways than we know. The design of God is that if one member suffers, all suffer, and if one is honored, all rejoice. (1 Cor. 12:25-26) We need each other more than we can comprehend. We need to pay more attention to one another. This is not because one wants to be a busybody or wants to know the things of others for story sake, but because the Lord wants it to be so. Being a busybody is curious about matters without any spiritual aid, not gendered towards supplying grace or virtue; it just wants to know for information’s sake and to talk about it.
(1 Cor. 6:1-2) In the church, we are to have an internal conflict resolution amongst ourselves. In a conflict between brethren, the Lord will have one person to condescend, that is, the one on whom God can ride to save the other from Satan’s ploy. So the first way is to call the person you have an issue with and talk it through. If that process doesn’t yield fruit, then they can look for a more spiritual person to mediate the matter between them. Our adversary is Satan; in situations like this, things are not judged by right or wrong but by life and death. If the process of one person mediating doesn’t work, then the matter can be brought before the church. We should also know that sweeping things under the carpet does not mean forgiveness has happened; that is a lie. How do you know a matter has been resolved? Can you talk about it without any sense of hurt or pain associated with it?
(Rom. 12:9) Our love for one another must be without pretense. One’s love can be in pretense; it is not without dissimulation. One can have serious issues with another, and those issues can give a sense of disinterest or dissatisfaction, but many times we are not bold enough to seek clarity on those issues. The issue of love from a pure heart and our ability to forgive perfectly is crucial to our coexistence. A pure heart is worked in a man through obedience to truth, and part of it is in his ability to forgive. If one has not obeyed truth in forgiveness, our capacity to love will be conditional and not pure.
To avoid offenses, we must learn to give excuses for others as we also give excuses for ourselves. Offences will always come, but love must always cover for one another. Satan is an outsider, and we shouldn’t allow him to interfere with our affairs; it is a family business. We don’t need an outsider to mediate in our family business.
In business, we should not want to succeed in our personal business alone. We are not competitors in business with our brethren. We ought to watch for the success of our brethren in business. Likewise, in our workplaces, if there’s an opening, we should look to help our brethren if they are a fit for the role. Your brethren should always be in your mind. We should seek the welfare of the body. God must cure us of selfishness, of that thing that looks at its own thing sometimes at the expense of others.
We should associate with ourselves. Individualism and wanting to make money should not undermine our communal life. The Jewish community, for example, functions as a community, but our churches now barely do; we are weaker when we want to stand by ourselves, but we are stronger when we stand together.
A one-man business barely transforms into a multimillion-dollar company because we can only do little as individuals. There’s a certain height we won’t get to if we don’t leverage the strength of others. Also, in coming together, we must also be mindful of unequal yoking as it has to do with individuals’ values in business. A person can partner with someone who has no respect for timeliness, for diligence. There must be a common ground of values.
One’s faith should affect one’s work/business. Our diligence in seeking Christ ought to be reflected in our business. Diligence is an attitude of faith. Faith will teach you how to be diligent. Some people just want to make money; they don’t want to be diligent. Any matter we handle should be handled as a professional, with attention to detail, diligence, and excellence. They should not hand over something to you and have to micro-manage you.
All the things God is teaching us as virtues in the kingdom are also necessary to succeed in the natural. Students who follow God mostly come out well; they are not indolent but diligent in their studies.
There should be a way you treat your brethren and also a way you treat outsiders in business, in terms of how you charge for services rendered; you shouldn’t want to burden your brethren more than they can handle. There are ways God compensates that are beyond one’s understanding when he follows this principle. We must learn not just to serve our Pastors but also to serve our brethren. Many of us charge the way we do because our goal is still to be somewhat within society. There is nothing wrong with having different pricing scales and models. We must prioritise our bond rather than money. Some of us are more carnal and worldly, and it reflects in how we handle money matters. Somewhere, the soul of the believer has been sickened by money that we have forgotten what we are truly looking for. Our desire must be that the Lord pays us when it comes to our brethren, because it will always be a privilege to serve our brethren.
God wants to build a community of people who are lifting each other. One thing God does with people who are journeying with the word, He sends economic power to them to sustain the growth and increase. If there is no economic power, it strains the growth of the harvest. This economic power comes as financial increase, business ideas, etc., and He fuels the growth of this to sustain the increase.
If we are not mature enough to discern the workings of God and the system or frameworks He set around them, we can lose opportunities to be established in certain things. There are certain of us that God is working in our souls and already preparing us for what He wants to do in this land. God is going to cause resources to come through our hands in ways and measures that we cannot fathom, but we must be prepared for it; we must be thoroughly furnished.
As it has to do with skills, soft skills are our most potent weapon. The way we communicate, how we treat people, and the way we dress aside from the hard skills matter. Faith furnishes us with the materials to be the kind of people we ought to be. Everyone wants to work with a sound Christian. Whatever we do, we must do it as though we are doing it for Jesus. There should be a standard of excellence that should be found among believers. We should be diligent and always want to deliver well. We should do our work as unto Christ, and that as unto Him we would receive the reward of our inheritance. This is the only way we will be positioned to receive the blessing and resources God wants to give the church.
If some of us do not grow fast and others do, offense will arise because you did not position yourself where you were supposed to be, and others did. Not all of us will be business owners; you can be a housewife and serve God well. This is why we must be discerning of what God will have us do.
Don’t handle your job as though it is just for salary, don’t go to school, and allow your academics to suffer. We must learn to do all as unto the Lord.
The Holy Ghost has excellence in Him and can make you excellent in all your affairs. No one walks closely with the Holy Ghost who does not become an excellent manager and custodian of the natural. Just like Bezaleel and Aholia. (Exodus 36:1) Even though this is not the promise, God can give us comprehension and mastery of our affairs.
There is a place God is taking us to for the harvest and every one of us has a part to play. The way everyone grows is that they stand in God’s purpose for their life. Every one of us must stand where God wants us to stand at every given time in following the leading of the Spirit, if we don’t, others will suffer for it. Our standing in God’s purpose for our life is how we supply to His body. Our supply must not diminish.
We have to be particular in how we read our Bible, fellowship with God in prayer, follow and listen to messages, and follow through with the leading of the Spirit. We must be mindful to follow up on these four responsibilities at a minimum. We all must do this as it has a communal implication. Every lag begins from a lapse in any or all of these four things. If we are well exercised in these four things consistently, he or she will be standing in the center of God’s will for their life.
Tongues and Interpretation
I am changing the narrative, I am changing the narrative.
No longer will the enemy continue to hide in plain sight
There are many places for the enemy, there are many hiding places that you have carved out for the enemy but I am opening your eyes to see.
It is beautiful when brethren dwell together in unity for it provokes me to command my blessing but you must be diligent, for the life of your brother and your sister is dependent on your obedience.
The life of your brethren is dependent on your commitment to staying in truth, so you must mind your atmosphere, you must mind your growth for I linked you up together for a reason.
For woe to him who falleth and is alone.
Your joint should supply your part, your joint should supply that which is required for all of you to grow.
If you are not giving attention to the things that I am spelling out by my servant today, then you are not as selfless as I am.
I am selfless, saith the Lord.
I do not just look on my own things, I am mindful of everyone. I am mindful of even you.
When you give attention to feeding well, to growing well, to fighting your battles, you are also supplying that which is needed for the victory of your brother and your sister.
I am judging the hiding places of Satan, He has been hiding in plain sight, for you have even formed many hiding places for him.
Saith the Lord, don’t be slothful! Take heed to these instructions for life is dependent on your obedience.
Message continues..
Our breakthrough and change in season are dependent on these four responsibilities. It is not good to waste the Lord’s time. Do quick and obey the Lord. There is no benefit in hearing instructions and not obeying them. The real benefit is in the doing. Get comfortable when brethren ask us what the Lord is saying, so you can be held accountable. We should all be pressing towards the establishment of God’s will for our lives.
We are in this world, but not of this world; however, we should not live with a religious cloak. We can discuss the things of this world, but our priority is and should always be the word of God. We can become so skilled in following the Lord that all our lives become governed by the Spirit, and we are bringing forth fruit in due season.
(2 Pet. 1:6-8) The fruit that the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ that we are hearing should bear in us is Life. The abundant work of these things will grant us entrance into the everlasting kingdom. Jesus is looking for a standard of life in us – a life produced by faith, hope, and charity. Life here also works.
The reason the Father worked in Jesus was so that He could work (John 5:17), and Jesus works in us so we can work (Eph. 2:10). The work Jesus is doing in us is a great work.
THE END.
