Theme: Standing in Faith
Topic: Review of the Basics of Faith Series
Minister: Pastor Laide Olaniyan & Pastor David Kilanko.
Tongues and Interpretation
I’ll bring an entrance into that which has been spoken concerning this faith series.
The essence of this series is to have a life engaged in faith, it is not to hear alone but to also partake in it.
I open the door for you to live by the economy of faith.
It is time to be alive to this spirit.
Faith is a spirit.
The essence of this series is to walk by faith and the light that faith brings.
I will numb your mind so you can live by faith.
I will begin to speak to you by faith for your homes, for your work, for your marriage.
For your mind is not a place to take judgements for life from, it ought to be from faith.
Ye, I will begin to speak over your life now for it is time for faith to be at work in your life
A door of entrance into the realm of the spirit is open.
Faith is a connection to a life in the spirit.
The substance has been given and it is time for you to use faith for your healing and for your provision.
It is time for you to walk by faith.
Don’t be laid back, speak to the sickness by faith.
Entrance has come, the door of entrance is open and it is time for the life of faith to be made manifest in your life
For this light is now becoming life.
Now you will live by faith.
It is time for you to live by faith, to live by the life of faith.
The door is open, entrance!
Review begins..
Faith is defined as the spiritual door to receive from God. It is an ability to grasp the promises of God despite contradictions of the natural senses.
Faith is not the same as hope, we don’t receive anything by hope, hope is a good waiter, faith is a good getter, hope is futuristic and faith is now. Faith is also different from mental assent, that is, agreeing in your head but not able to believe in the word for yourself and applying it to life.
The faith series teaching is for an application to our life. The gospel is revealed to us from faith to faith. Faith is for us to live by. A personal revelation from God’s word is needed for us to use faith hence we end up frustrated and feel that having faith does not work. We need to stand in faith.
Faith is a wisdom in God to bring us into His life. It is not the wisdom of man. Faith cometh by hearing the word and allowing it to enter our heart. (Ezek. 3:10) – “Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.”
Whatever we hear with our ears, we ought to also receive it into our heart for it to qualify as faith. Knowledge that we receive can vanish if it does not land in our hearts. Everything we will ever receive from God or become in God comes by faith.
Our life must be anchored on God and in faith. Meditation also on God’s word will heal our hearts of unbelief. God designed our hearts for faith but Satan made it the seat of unbelief. This is why we are encouraged to act from our spirit and not our mind. If we succumb to the pressure that comes from our mind, we would rarely live by faith.
Faith begins when the will of God is known. Faith is dynamic. Acting per time on what the spirit of God is revealing as the will of God is faith.
The first step to get answers is to have desire, pray and believe. Desire is not wishing and it has to be fetched from the word else we can fuel our covetousness. Our desire must be based on the word of God.
Our faith in God is through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our ability to cast out demons and heal the sick is because of our believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesu Christ. Every believer has access to this life. We have been delivered from the power of darkness through the name of Jesus. Sicknesses and diseases are not our portion because we exercise our faith in the name of Jesus. This is a right and privilege we have in God.
There are certain things we are no longer under because we are in Christ Jesus. We are no longer under any family/inherited curses, we can’t be attacked by household enemies e.t.c even when there is evidence we can point towards. (Prov. 26:2) Curses can not perch on a child of God. We have also been redeemed by faith. Success and prosperity comes by faith without the need to labour strenuously to be rich.
There are certain principles to receiving things or getting our prayers answered; this includes having faith in God. It is not positive thinking or recounting somebody else’s experience. We must have our own encounters in the word of God. We need to also get our desires right. We can’t desire unrighteous things and think God will answer them. We also need to pray and continually believe. God regards what we say. Mark 11:23.
Confession is expressing conviction of the heart concerning what faith has given you. Faith does not go by or is given to confessing the obvious. For example, that you are feeling unwell and you notice after checking your temperature above the normal should not immediately result in a confession that you have a fever. We should not be like the 10 spies but should be like those with another spirit of faith.
Every seeming mountain in our lives has ears but it only opens to faith so we must sow the seed of faith by our confession. When the word of God flows from our mouth, it moves the immovable. Our life should run by the speaking of the word of God (Matt. 4:4). There are many things not rooted in the word that we hold as beliefs that should not be so.
Our faith won’t work if we stay in intentional disobedience to God’s word. When having faith for healing for example, thoughts of unbelief might crop up in our minds, we must be quick to judge every imagination that wants to exalt itself against the knowledge of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). Our life is not built on experiences but on the word of God.
(Phil. 4:6) – “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” – When trusting God, thanksgiving is the highest corresponding action of our faith. We should be weary of praying to God not understanding that He can do whatever we ask.
There are certain hindrances to faith – breaking the law of love and staying in unforgiveness.
When praying, we must rid every condemnation in our heart because Satan uses it to fight our confidence in God. Another hindrance to faith is evil reports. Don’t google your sickness, don’t google your problem.
Questions and Answers Session – Pst. Laide Olaniyan
- Why is it easier to trust God for bodily healing than it is to trust God for financial provision?
Many times our minds play a fast one on us. None is actually easier than the other. It is the same way we trust for bodily healing that we trust for financial provision, just exercise your mind.
The reason we feel it is easier is that we have placed limitations on financial provision. For
bodily healing, we know God supplies it to our body directly but with finances we feel men need to be involved and we know somewhere that men can’t be trusted. Truth is, God is not limited in providing for us. We see in scriptures He supplied money through a fish (Matt. 17:27). Man was not involved. There are testimonies of people who got financial provisions in different or weird ways that did not involve human interference.
The same sacrifice that quickened our spirit took care of the provision for healing of our body and also took care of our natural provisions. Jesus did not need to die to procure us healing or provide our needs but His death sealed and guaranteed that we are always provided for. What Jesus did 2000 years ago also took away sickness and diseases such that we are already healed. There is a need to understand that we are not the sick looking for healing, we are already healed, then we will always get healed. The day we got born again, we already got healed. That we feel sick does not mean we seek the Lord for healing, this is because we are already healed. This is the provision Christ gives. Same for natural or financial provision. We need to move from speaking as a gentile or an unbeliever who has not been catered for by the finished work in Christ Jesus for us who believe.
(Matt. 6:26-31) Even the birds of the air and the lilies have a kind of faith they live by that assures their natural provisions. (Psa. 37:25) – “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” – We must realise that in the midst of lack, God is more interested in the matter/situation than we are. It is not difficult for provision to come. What happens is that we take on matters that are God’s business when our focus should be on seeking the kingdom.
As a community, we must also be careful to not turn the faith of the brethren to ourselves, rather, turn their faith to God for their needs. This does not mean we should not continue to bear each other’s burden.
- How can one balance using faith for one’s wants without being covetous?
God loves our sincerity. God doesn’t want you to form or pretend. Many of us don’t have a personal relationship with God where we are just sincere. Talking to God in sincerity makes us vulnerable before God. He wants us to be very very plain with Him, even about some seemingly petty things. Many of us don’t even know how to ask God for our needs. We are so used to lack that we don’t ask. We should always let our desires be known to God but give Him liberty to strike out things. Let God know that your soul desires these things but if it is a lust, He can strike it out.
God is not a hard task master as some think of Him. God can supply all our needs. God can give beans and garri and He can also furnish a table in the wilderness.
Many times, God delays things because He does not want them to have power over us but when we have grown above them, He can bring them to us in abundance.
- What do I do when I am trusting God for the healing of a particular ailment but still no healing?
The word of God works!.
Tongues and interpretation
For you see that I am a healer is not just a title, it is who I am.
My word is infallible; I say wait!
Have I not said it in my word that even if your father or mother forsake you, I the Lord will
take you up.
Wait and I will strengthen your heart.
Keep at it, stay on my word.
I don’t count slackness as men count it, I am coming to roll it away.
I have rolled it away already only that you are not seeing from where I stand.
Wait I say on the Lord and He would strengthen your heart for the things that you are seeing
is to shake your leg and to drop the things you have confessed.
See, the things you have been taught are true, the things you have read and confessed are
true. They are more true than the things you are feeling in your body.
For indeed I have come to roll it away, I am not slack, I am not late.
I am coming.. I am coming.
No! You are not sick for my glory surrounds you.
You are not sick, you have my life within you.
Listen not to what your body is saying for if you truly check within your spirit, your spirit is
not declaring sickness. Rely only on that information.
For indeed I have rolled the reality of your body away
Being a healer is not just a title, it is who I am.
Message continues..
With healing, there is the giving and the receiving side. On the giving/supply side of heaven, it is already done.
(Isa. 53:4-5) – “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
(1 Pet. 2:23-34) – “Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
For the believer, healing has been given, but for the gentile it is something they need to seek after. (Jam. 5:14) “Is any sick among you?” – It is not expected for the believer to be sick but there is provision for if we are sick. Our biggest problem is looking at the symptoms of our sickness.
(Mark 11:12-24) When Jesus caused the fig tree, it began to wither but it was not immediately evident externally but the withering had begun from the root. The condition for our healing is to have faith in God not doubting even in the face of symptoms saying otherwise. We lose the battle in receiving when we begin to doubt or are unsure that the answer has been granted. When we pray, we must understand the answer has been given. We must learn to laugh in the face of symptoms. Our challenge is that what we see as symptoms is more real than the word of God in our heart. We must be quick to refute every lie that is not according to God’s word. Even when the pain is excruciating, we still must hold on to our believing that the healing has been given such that the existence of contrary evidence does not shift our faith. This is what is called the fight of faith. Everyone that has received healing from God has had to fight this fight. The Bible says blessed is he that has not seen yet believed. We must come to a place of full persuasion.
(Mark 11:24) – “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
There must be faith in the heart and confession in the mouth. We receive our healing before we have it. Healing is our present day reality. It is at work in us. If you are taught by the word of God, you know how to keep your healing. While some get healed through the healing anointing, the teaching of God’s word on how to receive and keep our healing is way more better. This will keep us from losing it because many lose their healing because they don’t know by the word how to keep it. We need to know the word of God to keep our healing.
A lie of Satan to believers is that we are sick because we are not righteous enough, that because of the life we had previously lived that we are paying for it, that it is a punishment. Jesus does not punish anyone with sickness. His verdict is go and sin no more and if you have sinned, they shall be forgiven you (John 8:11, James 5:15).
- Is it unbelief if I take medication after having faith to be healed?
Take medication if you need to but don’t put your trust in medication. Even doctors say God heals while they only take care. If you have enough faith in your heart to stay away from medication then do it but make sure it is from a substance in your heart. Jesus has healed us. The time of our healing is when our hearts are persuaded that our healing has come.
- I have faith for my needs to be met but find that many times my needs are met without me even praying about it. I heard it is not good to live a ‘what will happen will happen’ type of life, that it is not faith. I want to know where I stand.
Living things to run its course can be faith and/or can be negligence. The question is what is powering that disposition of life. Many christians are so laid back that if you don’t have discernment you will mistake it for faith. For some people, it is a disposition of ‘I can’t stress myself’, that is not faith. Living by faith is informed by the knowledge of the word of God so our disposition to everything should be from the light of truth.
If we are not careful to fount from the word of God in all we do, Satan will mimic conversations that appear spiritual or as faith. Faith is not an excuse for idleness. Faith does. Faith is not laid back. We need to grow up and not live our life to chance.
- Obeying God quickly is it haste? Would God always be patient with me to do it at my own time?
(Ecc. 3:1) God leads us with specific time in view. That it came to our heart, doesn’t mean it is time. It can be genuinely God doesn’t mean it is time. God is saying it doesn’t mean you are the one going to execute it. You can hear God and still be in haste. There is a God’s time and a God’s how. That you heard God doesn’t mean you have heard all God has said. When God gives instructions there is time to do it, there is how to do it.
With faith concerning our life, faith inquires diligently on who, what, how and when. We must not be patient or hasty with God. Whatever will be will be is not scriptural. There are things we fight for. We must know the things we let go and those we are to fight for. As believers, we should not live by some of those useless philosophies the world is peddling. God that says let it go today can ask you tomorrow to fight for it. We need to grow up and not live our life to chance.
- Why do I still feel scared even though I have prayed about it? It feels difficult believing God for something good happening again
Fear in the heart is mostly the source of doubt and faith and fear cannot coexist. What we carry to the place of prayer are our fears and anxieties (Phil. 4:6).
Many times we think we are praying but what we are actually doing is murmuring and complaining. Murmuring is talking about our fears to ourselves while complaining is talking to others about our fears and displeasure. The time we spend doing this should be spent talking to God about it. No one who murmurs and complains a lot has any energy left to pray or talk to God about them. When you finish complaining and want to pray you will experience dryness in prayer.
The anxiety we feel ought to be a fuel that we burn in prayer till when we come into peace, that is what it means to pray through. When you live from the spirit, you learn to know when things have been resolved. If fear has not been converted to faith and anxiety into peace, you are yet to pray through.
Praying through is when you have resolved the matter in the spirit. Learn the principle of resolving matters in the spirit till a peace of God has been birthed. If peace has not been birthed, then we have not prayed through. Pray about all things until you have prayed through especially matters that are still troubling our hearts. God expects us to pray.
Sometimes, Satan can trouble people to trouble you and many times God brings a prompting in our heart so we can pray about them before they happen. If you feel something lingering in your heart, pray and pray through about the matter. Be watching it in prayer. Pray in the Holyghost! (Rom. 8:26-27).
There are times we don’t know what it is but through praying in the spirit you can wave off certain incidents that should not happen. When you still have restlessness in your spirit, call on brethren, call on spiritual authority sometimes it is an understanding God wants to bring to you. There are many things God wants to communicate to us through our restlessness. We must learn to know what the restlessness inside is for.
Once we become attuned to the spirit, nothing catches us by surprise. Nothing caught Jesus by surprise because He was a man of prayer. God can give express details of things if we stay in the place of prayer.
From anxiety to the peace of God, the middle ground is prayer, supplication and thanksgiving. We can translate every anxiety to the peace of God. We must acquaint ourselves with the peace of God. The peace of God is like tabrets of judgements by which we know where to go and where not to go and what to allow or not allow. That you prayed and still feeling fear is because you have not prayed through. Stay in the place of prayer. Spend hours praying.
Prayer is sweet when you pray with the Holy Ghost. When you pray according to God’s word, when you are not seeking the will of He who called you to prayer and not your own will. You can spend 3 hours or 6 hours and it feels like only 10 minutes because the heart is engaged with its lover (Jesus).
The beautiful thing about receiving from the Lord is that it boosts your confidence in the Lord. (1 Pet. 2:3-4) – “If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” – There are some victories of faith that boost your confidence in God. We must taste of His goodness. It brings boldness. Use faith for everything and anything. If It doesn’t work, try it again, as you learn, you grow. It will help you know God experientially.
Learn to release your faith in God, don’t put a shackle on your faith. Use Faith! They purchase for you a great boldness in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t be timid. Our God is a God of impossibilities . Even if it doesn’t happen you have not lost but it will happen. Grow your faith, you won’t grow your faith if you are not using it. Dare to use your faith, dare to trust God.
There is a confidence that I prayed and God answered. Release your faith, use faith!
THE END.
